God IS in Control

After a roller coaster week full of emotions and medical news, I decided to take a run this afternoon before going to work to clear my head.  I felt my faith attempting to be shaken, questions and yelling filling up my being as diagnosis after diagnosis came in this week, and then just as things were calming down, we got news that Daddy needs a procedure done too.  So, I went for a run…

I have an exercise mix that we put together 3 years ago.  I listen to it in nearly the same order every time I use my iPod.  Bryan changed it up a little when he used it in August, but I haven’t changed anything more.  The music is truly a mix of many aspects of our life.  Today, God used that iPod to show me He is there with me.  Song after song about faith – I haven’t heard the songs EVER played in this order.  I know God was working a miracle in my heart this afternoon.  The second song to play was, “God is in Control.”

This is no time for fear
This is a time for faith and determination
Don't lose the vision here
Carried away by emotion
Hold on to all that you hide in your heart
There is one thing that has always been true
It holds the world together
God is in control
We believe that His children will not be forsaken
God is in control
We will choose to remember and never be shaken
There is no power above or beside Him, we know
God is in control, oh God is in control
History marches on
There is a bottom line drawn across the ages
Culture can make its plan
Oh, but the line never changes
No matter how the deception may fly
There is one thing that has always been true
It will be true forever
He has never let you down
Why start to worry now?
He is still the Lord of all we see
And He is still the loving Father
Watching over you and me
watching over you...watching over me..
watching over every things..
watching over you..watching over me..
every little sparrow..every little things...

I praise You, Lord.  Thank You!!!

Our “Apple”

Katie’s kindergarten class picks a student each week to be the “Apple of the Week.”  Well, Friday Katie came out with a HUGE smile and a poster… This is her week.  She spent the weekend reminding us that we needed to help her “do” her poster.  Being the “middle of the middle,” I think she was super-excited that this is HER week.  We’ve tried to extend it to home – she gets to pick dinner one day, a show to watch, a book to read, and hers is the deciding vote in various decisions.  I thought it would be nice for her to have a special blog dedicated to her too.

Katie is our complete sweetheart.  She has a gentle, loving aura and spreads her love to everyone she meets.  She is eager to help.  Her gentleness and generous spirit are evident in almost everything she does.  She is imaginative and creative.  I am so thankful God has blessed our family with Kathryn Elliott Mumaugh!!!  We love you so much, Cuddlebug!

Where did September go?

So the calendar is telling me it’s October.  The weather in the morning and the later sunrise/earlier sunset seem to concur.  Wow.  How did that happen?  What happened to September?  I’m going to try to put together a pictorial review…  It started with a whirlwind Labor Day weekend that involved Bryan going to Notre Dame for a Purdue football game, followed by apple-picking with the Lucases on Monday.

DSC_7578DSC_7618DSC_7588DSC_7639DSC_7657DSC_7652DSC_7683Two days later we flew to San Francisco for Sara and Oli’s wedding!  It was Jack and Grace’s first time on an airplane, and they were beyond excited!  I will have to come back with pictures later of  the plane and all the adventures leading up to the wedding on September 12th.  Everyone had a part in the wedding, which was so sweet and wonderful.

Here’s just a taste:

Coming home, we worked on getting back into the back-to-school routine.  Soccer season is in full-force.

Amy's camer 92110 039Jack’s team is in the Gold division and is playing hard each weekend and practicing twice a week.  The games are farther away this year, which makes for more road trips and exploring, always fun!

Grace is really finding her own way this season.  She has gotten much more aggressive going after the ball.  She has even scored a few times along with being a great passer!

Katie says she enjoys soccer and loves to “hang out with” her friends.  She’s young, so we’ll see where it takes her.

Mary wants to play soccer, so we’re looking into it at the Y for her.  The three older ones are already looking forward to basketball for the winter.  Really, we do limit their activities!  It’s just that ONE sport each for 4 active children still equals a full schedule (not that would change it a bit!)!

The kids had an unexpected day off at the end of September, so we finally made that trip to the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis.  It was a quick trip, but so much fun!DSCF6875It started off as a wet, dreary day.

DSCF6880With 4 girls and Aunt Melanie, we were definitely going to be spending lots of time in the Barbie exhibit!

DSCF6887    First off was the Dino exhibit though.  The kids loved the interactive displays.

DSCF6894They were way excited about the trains and want Grandpa to come check them out soon!

DSCF6902We spent a long time underneath the blown glass sculpture.  It was so neat!

DSCF6908DSCF6926   Then, of course, it was on to the Barbies.

DSCF6935DSCF6948DSCF6944DSCF6979DSCF6972DSCF6885DSCF6992Jack and Rachel were good sports, but they were very happy to walk around for a minute while the older girls were getting ready for their “fashion show.”  We found this window display and had to get a picture for Daddy!

Then it was on to Egypt.  We were able to just get a taste before it was time to head back to the van for the drive home.  We definitely want to make it back for the rest of the museum very soon!

DSCF7006DSCF7013DSCF7019As usual, busy in the best possible way!

1st Day of School

As always, summer was over in the blink of an eye, and it was time to head back to school.

Jack started 4th grade this year, very excited to FINALLY have Joey in his class again.  He is really enjoying being a “big” kid now and learning so much.  He really likes his teacher AND thinks it’s totally cool that her daughters like soccer as much as he does.

Grace started 2nd grade and has Miss Flynn, just as Jack did.  She is loving achieving the rides and really likes that she gets to have Mrs. Wysocki for Social Studies :).

DSCF6101Kathryn is in kindergarten, which has definitely been the biggest adjustment for us.  She has Mrs. Mesich and Mrs. Potter and LOVES school.

DSCF6151  DSCF6117   Mary and Rachel and I are starting to find our routine without them at home.  Mary is a great helper.  She especially likes to help bake and cook, so that’s what we’ve been doing more.  Rachel loves to talk and explore.  She is constantly on the go and definitely keeps me on my toes!  The days go by so quickly!
